What is a Boiler Warranty ?

All new boilers comes with standard warranty or also knows as guarantee from manufacturer. So if your boiler develop any fault during the warranty period, the manufacturer will repair the boiler without any cost. All boiler comes with 1 year standard warranty which can be extended from 2 years to 12 years depending on the boiler manufacturer and boiler model. Extending a boiler warranty could cost you extra so it is advisable to get boiler quotes with extended warranty periods. As boiler gets older, the likelihood of faults occurring increases over time and a lengthy warranty period could become handy.

Terms and Conditions

Every boiler manufacturer warranty is different and depends on you following certain terms and conditions set out by the manufacturer. In order to keep your boiler warranty valid you need to understand what’s expected from you as a household and what does your warranty includes?

  • Benchmark and all necessary paperwork is completed.
  • New boiler must be registered with the manufacturer within 30 days of installation.
  • Boiler installation is done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
  • Existing heating system is clean from debris.
  • Annual service of the boiler ( Minimum requirement by most boiler manufacturers)
  • Only use manufacturer approved parts for any repair

An accredited or advanced installer maybe able to offer you extended warranty on your new boiler. Get your heating engineer to register your boiler warranty and you can always call manufacturer to check if your new boiler has been registered with them.

Ask your installer about boiler warranties and what is included as in some instances warranties only apply to certain parts of the boiler e.g. heat exchanger. Ask your installer about how you can keep your warranty valid.

Most boiler brands will recommend you to get your boiler serviced annually. Make sure to keep all your boiler service records safe in case you need to produce them to keep your warranty.
